Our Story
Welcome to Tavernier’s Travels, a travel and culture blog. Here you’ll find travel guides, travel tips and advice, and cultural and historical travel posts. Flâneurs at heart will appreciate our emphasis on turning towards slow travel where possible and experiencing life as locals do, wherever we are.
Launched in December 2023 by Cher and Karis Tavernier-Nicholas, Tavernier’s Travels began life in quite a different guise. Initially, the website began as ‘Whimsical Whatever’, a lifestyle site. While we enjoyed producing content for ‘Whimsical Whatever’, it ultimately became apparent that the website was heading down a more travel-focused route, and so it felt right to change the name of the blog to reflect this.
In January 2026, Tavernier’s Travels was fully launched. Although the name change felt like starting the website again (and in many ways it was), it allowed for a refresh button to be pressed. In the past, we’ve lived in various places, from the Outer Hebrides of Scotland to the South of France, and lots of other places in between. Travel, consequently, is in our blood.
