This past week, I’ve been binge-watching Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex’s new show on Netflix With Love, Meghan. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy it as I thought it might be a bit too California – not meaning that in a horrible way. I’m from London, England and the difference between London and Los Angeles is like chalk and cheese, so I thought it wouldn’t really relate. How wrong I was.
The show is a delight; it’s light, fun and aesthetically pleasing – a welcome respite in these politically-turbulent times. It’s escapism with a capital ‘E’. What I loved about the show is Meghan herself. She has the most soothing voice, doesn’t take herself too seriously… and she has the most amazing garden.
For me, the standout things she made were bath salts (which I like to make myself, but I loved her version), the delicious teas and the honey and lemon cake, not to mention the donuts with the edible flowers – I really could go on. The show is the epitome of everything beautiful, and would undoubtedly be enjoyed by the those who like to romanticise their life in small day-to-day activities.
To be honest, you’re either going to love the show or hate it depending on which side of the fence you sit on. If you hate the Duchess of Sussex for reasons, you will hate the show. If you love, like or are largely indifferent to Meghan, you will surely love it or, at the least, like it and take the show for what it is – a light-hearted lifestyle/cooking show.
Will There Be a Season 2 of With Love, Meghan?
In its first week, the show reached the Top Ten of most-watched shows more or less globally, so it’s little surprise that Netflix has confirmed that there will indeed be a season 2 of With Love, Meghan. And I, for one, am so glad that there’s another season hopefully coming soon.
